Personal Characteristics To Become A Sports Scientist
To become successful in any career, you must achieve excellence in at least five characteristics. To become a Sports Scientist, the five most important characteristics to have would be: Be Responsible, Be Adaptable, Work Safely, Work With Others, and Communicate.
Be Responsible: As a Sports Scientist, you are not only responsible for yourself, but responsible for the athlete's career that you are working on. You must always be accountable for your actions and be able to take risks that you will be successful in.
Be Adaptable: You must be able to be adaptable in all situations. Sports Scientists must be able to work independently, and be able to accept constructive criticism in order to become better at their job.
Work Safely: A lot is on the line when working with high end athletes, not only their career, but their lives. Athletes entertain fans by playing sports, its their only way to pay the bills. When working with an injured athlete, you must always be aware of their health issues in order to achieve full recovery. Be careful, but also take risks in order to increase the healing process.
Work With Others: It is not an individual effort when working with a patient, it takes teamwork between you and your patient. You must always respect your client and be certain he is able to move forward into the next process of your therapy. Always be aware of your surroundings and contribute by sharing information to ensure success in his recovery.
Communicate: Communication is the most important characteristic to have when you are a Sports Scientist. To ensure that you have FULL knowledge of your clients injury, you must communicate thoroughly and understand everything before you begin. Ask lots of questions and share your knowledge so that your client understands what you will be doing to him in order to make a full recovery.
